Is Apatite a safe material to be used on air purifier filters?

I learned that the Sharp air purifiers' HEPA filters have an Apatite component to it that apparently provides antibacterial properties to protect the filters from microbial accumulation. Is Apatite a relatively "safe" material to use for an air filter, i.e. is it safe for the resident who is breathing air that comes through the filter? Apatite (a very general term) is usually made up of phosphorus and calcium, but some variants (ie. arsenates like mimemite) may contain arsenic. Could this be a health issue for users? Would the filters use arsenic-based variants in the first place, or are other forms more prevalent and likely to be used in medical/industrial applications?

Apatite is a group name for hexagonal or pseudohexagonal monoclinic arsenates, phosphates and vanadates.
In general use 'apatite' is often used in particular for the Calcium Phosphate minerals, Fluorapatite, Chlorapatite and Hydroxylapatite.
There is no specific data on health dangers or toxicity for this mineral.
It is unlikely that an arsenate would be used in this application. The other forms are quite prevalent and more of these are actually mined as ore.

My apartment is 883 sq feet. I have 5 cats and there are lots of trees around the complex. I am not allergic to dust, tree or flower pollen or anything like that. My problem is all the freaking cat hair that ends up resting on my stuff and also all the general dust. The cat hair issue extends to where when I walk outside, cat hair is floating in the air of my apartment &
ends up on my clothes.........I have lint rollers in the car.

Oreck makes a really good one. It's a little pricey, but you can buy it with monthly installments. Also, if you have the time, brush your cats about once a week, do it outside if possible.

My one year old little girl has had a lot of problems breathing. She has been in the hospital at least twice because she has difficulty breathing. The doctors told us that she has bronchalitis. They will not diagnose her with asthma yet because she is too young. I have recently finished an environmental science class and with that new insight I believe that an air purifier will help her with breathing, at least when she sleeps. My wife is a little more skeptic on the issues. She doesn’t believe that an air purifier will necessarily help our daughter. She is worried that the air purifier will put out more pollutants in to the air then it takes out. I have been looking into air purifiers with a three filter combination (pre-filter, carbon filter, and hepa filter) to maximize the purification. We will not be getting an ozone purifier or an ion purifier do to the chance that extra ozone will be put into the air from the purifier. Thank you for any help you can give.

I was looking at the Sharper Image Hybrid GP Germicidal Air Purifier. I would get it for like $350. Which is $150 less than advertised. But i heard that they are NOT very good because they dont push enough air through the filter unlike other HEPA filters which supposedly do. Is that true? I also do know that they save a lot of energy compared to other brand filters and you dont have to buy $100 replacement filters every year. I need help please. Also can you please post some reference links. Thank you very much.
